Trick or Treat
Created this drawing for the monthly sketch contest on sketchtheatre.com. I really love drawing with pencil. I have a feeling I am going to be switching my focus and going back to my roots in drawing.

Human Behaviour
This was really fun putting together. I use to love creating photo-manipulations. Made this one in photoshop.

Girl in Window
They say the best way to learn how to paint is to try and recreate from the masters. I tried my hand at recreating a Rembrandt painting. I think it came out ok.

Life on the Rocks
18 x 24 drawing I created a few years ago. I really had a lot of fun creating it. Hoping to get some time to put into a big drawing like this again.

Siddhartha Statue
This painting was such a great learning experience for me. Adding layer upon layer trying to achieve a worn metal look in acrylic can be quite difficult and frustrating at times but totally worth it when you see how well it came out.

New painting in progress
I started this painting last year, and just never got around to finishing it. So the past week I finally made some time to sit down and really work on it. This is just a few progression images. I am currently working on it and should have it done soon. I have had a lot of fun working on it and putting in the time to really bring the elements out of the painting. I am going to continue to paint in this style for future paintings.

Desaturated
Desaturated from Paul Castro on Vimeo.
I created an animation back in 2009 for a contest on aniboom.com. The premise was to create an animated music video for one of Radioheads' songs off the album In Rainbows. Well I made a few changes to it and did some more post work to it to get it to a more polished look. There are still things that I see in it that I want to change but I think it's better just to call this one a learning process and move on. Either way I still enjoy this video and I am itching to make another animation soon. The video makes more sense if you can understand the lyrics. Here is a link Reckoner Lyrics

Freak On A Leash
Submitted this drawing to the Sketch Theatre monthly sketch contest. I think subconsciously I drew a lot of inspiration from the Twilight Zone movie, where this wicked looking rabbit pops out of a top hat. That thing used to scare the shit out of my when I was a kid...but it was still a cool looking creature design. Hopefully it wins, but if not it was still a lot of fun to draw. I can't wait to see what's in store for next months theme.

Between Good and Evil: Ancient Drawing
Found this old drawing I did quite a few years back. It is on 18x24 paper. I finally got the chance to scan it in and piece it together in Photoshop. I am going to make it into a digital piece, and I can't wait to get cracking on it. There are a lot of elements I am going to have to fix, I can already see a few off hand, but I think it has potential to make a great portfolio piece.

Light Up the Darkness
So I am continuing on my journey through digital painting in photoshop. Been using alot of tutorials from Imagine FX and feedback from Conceptart.org, and I think it is starting to pay off. I can see my work developing more and more depth to it. Its very exciting to actually see progress. Just gotta keep pushing and experimenting. Everything is a learning experience.

Conspiracy Theory
Decided to take a break from the 3D world and get into some digital painting. I scanned in a recent sketch I made and just started having some fun with my Wacom Tablet. Been trying to practice my skills more in the digital painting realm since I picked up a few magazines with great tutorials from some really great artists. I call this one Conspiracy Theory because lately I have been feeling like it's all just one big conspiracy.

Earthly Juxtapositions
New acrylic painting done. I tried to incorporate the glazing technique into my old style of painting. I think it came out well!
